What is RAID and how can I use it?

RAID is an acronym for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. There are two popular types (but not the only types) of RAID, one is striping and the other is mirroring. Striping speeds up your hard drives and combines the drive space into one large virtual drive. Mirroring is for backup purposes and creates an exact mirror of a hard drive.
