How do computers that run windows operate using servers that run unix? I am still new at this so I am sure there is an easy explanantion I just don't understand after reading my Intro To Unix coursework.

IE the client windows machine knows how to interface because the software was told how. For example. A web server gets a request from a client to view the web page, so the server spits back HTML code. The client web browser knows how to interperet this HTML because it is a common language that it standarized by a protocal (a standard for communication)
This is the same with all client server processes for the most part. The client machine knows what type of reply it is going to get from the server and it knows how to interperet this.
Trust me, if i started killing people, there'd None of you left
