Hey,
I'm not sure if this is stupid or not but I was wondering if there was any possible way to get info, like an address or name, about a person through their IP even if that kind of info is blocked.

Ummm the only thing I can think of right now that you can get, is the city, state or country the person or persons live in. Sometimes you can get their name from Netbios, by using nbtstat. Their's probably some other ways but my head hurts now. <img border="0" alt="[[censored]]" title="" src="graemlins/[censored].gif" />

Well yes it is possible, if you do work for that isp laugh , but otherwise nope.

But what you can do is use neotrace or a similar program to see where it is located (not exactly, but, you get an idea where it is)

Yea, I've tried Neotrace but that info is restricted. I haven't tried the netbios one though. Thanks for all the inof anyway.

"Sigh"... We just had a question like this not too long ago...

Well, to repeat myself, you can do a netbios lookup on their computer using nbtstat in the hopes you find some useful info.

nbtstat -A <IP Address>

Ex:

nbtstat -A 192.168.1.3
Code
       NetBIOS Remote Machine Name Table

   Name Type Status
---------------------------------------------
MASTER <00> UNIQUE Registered
NETWORK <00> GROUP Registered
MASTER <20> UNIQUE Registered
MASTER <03> UNIQUE Registered
NETWORK <1E> GROUP Registered
DAVE <03> UNIQUE Registered
NETWORK <1D> UNIQUE Registered
..__MSBROWSE__.<01> GROUP Registered

MAC Address = 00-04-5A-71-7B-7E
My network workgroup is called 'NETWORK' and my computer's name is 'MASTER' and the user currently logged in is 'DAVE'. And now I know my real name! w00t.
