Yes, you heard me - I'm building a phreak box. And since I designed it, it'll probably fail catastrophically.

So I figured that to play it safe, I may as well post the schematics up before I actually take the time to build the damn thing.

I know you guys know alot about this stuff, so lay it on me - how much does it suck?

im a civil engineer and im drawing up road strata plans or OHS work floor drafts almost everyday for employers.
but never (bear in mind i occasionally work with architechts and theyr the gayest bunch of designers iv come across! no theory or grounding, only artsy-fartsy flair) have i come across something so.. well, in depth.
(or maybe its just my ignorance on the subject that makes me feel in awe)

erm, if anyone has more information on the amber box, kindly post where i may view it.

LOL. I'm actually a newb on the subject myself. (That's why I posted the schematic before trying to build the thing.) I have no experiance phreaking - or messing with phone lines for that matter.

(In case you haven't noticed, I got the tip and ring mixed up in the schematic, and I have to reverse the polarity on the wire tap - a pretty newb mistake.)

It really doesn't require much knowledge except for a basic electronic know-how. (I learned electronics from a book I bought at Radio Shack!)

I should hope so - I invented the amber box - if you find the thing elsewhere, I'm gonna get sued...

as limited as my knowledge may be in phreaking, i know that each box usually has a specific task/function.

i cant for the life of me understand the meaning of ur scematics shadow (through no fault of urs, but rather lack of knowledge on my part).
whats the function of the amber box shadow?

if you want to start phreaking build yourself a beige box...thats a essential tool of the trade...also if you have local telephone company toll booths and a mp3 or cd player build you (or record you) a redbox...

I was reading the drawings...they look like something similar i'v seen before...what exactly does the amber box do shadow?

If you read the schematic it looks like it's just supposed to listen to the conversation by tapping into the phone line at some point and display an optical signal when the line is being used. Looks like a beige box to me.
