Technical support calls for Dell's Optiplex line of desktop PCs and Latitude notebooks will no longer be served by Dell's customer support centers in Bangalore, India. This only applies to corporate customers and does not apply to other Dell users.
Dell said it made the move after they received complaints from corporate customers about the level of support they received from the Indian facility. Ned May, with market research firm IDC, says this move may earn the company some more support.
Marcus Courtney, of the IT group Washington Alliance of Technology Workers, says this shows "cheaper is not better." Dell, however, still diverts many technical support calls to India and still plans on fully outsourcing all support in the future.
