As cannabis becomes a Class C drug next month, Scotland will see a new cannabis cafe to test the law. In Leith, the members only Purple Haze internet cafe will allow people to bring small quanities to smoke. Many doubt police will let this last.

Cannabis cafes were operating in England but they were prosecuted seven months later. A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman says this new cafe will face prosecution. She says its illegal to hold a venue where one knows pot will be used.

Paul Stewart, who owns the cafe, says "I use cannabis and I�m going to allow people to smoke it. I�m not going to sell it, but I�ll allow people to bring their own. It will cost �5 to join. Stewart acknowledges he may end up in jail.
