No more warez channels coming march 1st. They say it has nothing to do with legal matters and only availablity of resources. Read their statement: http://www.dal.net/news/shownews.php3?id=31 | | |

PLUS wtf are they talking about, WAREZ has NOTHING to do with them getting DDoSed... Their getting DDoSed because of their admins being complete pricks to their ex server admins and their users... | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 nobody | nobody Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 | i knew you were going to say that | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 955 UGN Super Poster | UGN Super Poster Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 955 | Maybe they don't want the FBI down their throats like Efnet received. Plus I understand, this will serverely cut their server load. They have lost alot of servers, and if they make it through the DDoS, they will have to start smaller (which they will be already from many channels relocating) | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 nobody | nobody Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 | yeah i noticed the channels I used to chat in on dal had already found new homes on other servers since the DoS attacks because many of the users could not get on. maybe it wont take hours to do a /list now.... | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 DollarDNS Owner | DollarDNS Owner Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 | Originally posted by Gizmo: recent? Gizmo, sinetific didn't say that they are stopping warez cause they think that will stop the DoS'ing. He said that their reasons are due to availability of resources. If they end file sharing, that frees dalnet of a lot of resources so that they'd be more able to withstand DoS attacks. Not to mention that the network will have far fewer users since there'll be no file sharing, and that also will free up resources. Also, an indirect benefit would be that their network becomes less popular, and therefor less of a target for DoS attacks. Also, if you read the statement, they did not say that they are stopping file transfers cause of DoS attacks. In reality, they just want their network to be used for chatting purposes - not file sharing purposes. So where did this quote come from: "Because of recent DoS attacks against the server Dalnet IRC network is ending all file sharing channels on its network" ? | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 955 UGN Super Poster | UGN Super Poster Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 955 | Creative Summarizing? | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | Lol, those won't stop the DDoSes, the reasons their being DDoSed are because DALnet treats their server admins like [censored], hell 6 of them have leaked out their internal hubs and addresses, plus some oper information.
See, if DALnet wouldn't be a prick about how they run things and stop dicking around their admins they wouldn't have a problem with the DDoSes. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 DollarDNS Owner | DollarDNS Owner Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 | Neither they nor I said it would stop the DoS attacks.
If they did, I want to know where.
