A new nasal spray which claims to work as an aphrodisiac for women within minutes may soon be on the market. The spray which is based on PT-141, a synthetic version of a sex hormone, is manufactured by New Jersey-based Palatin Technologies Inc.

Women who used the drug in test studies were reported to have felt a tingling or throbbing followed by a strong desire to have sex immediately.

Since news of the new drug's existence came to light shares in the biotech company which developed it have jumped 20 percent in a single week.
