Any way to upgrade the drive should your needs expand? I know that some of the mp3 players out there use standard IDE drives; I'd love to get one so i could clone the data over to a 200gb disk and throw it into the mp3 player... never run out of space lol... | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 56 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 56 | wow 200gb extreme i dont know if they make one small enough to fit 200gb or at least as small as my 20gb | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,204 Likes: 11 Community Owner | | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,204 Likes: 11 | A 200gb drive is just a standard IDE drive. hense why i want something like the nomad; yes it's clunky but it has a real drive in it so upgrading is trivial as i can upgrade it myself lol...
Pretty easy too if you have two free ide slots: 1. Plugin old drive as master, jumper new drive as slave and plugin as slave. 2. Format the new drive to something the jukebox can handle, may take a little testing however as certain partition types wouldn't be supported and FAT doesn't support anything higher than 20gb. 3. Find a clone drive utility on google and then use the clone utility to clone over the data. 4. Jumper the new drive to master and plugin to your mp3 player and test to see if it works, if so you're grand, if not, repeat from step 2 (finding a partition it supports).
I guess that the main thing is finding what partitioning type it supports, and as FAT doesn't do anyone any good (unless the thing supports you having 10 partitions (200gb / 20 (being the largest FAT supports)) as it's so small. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 69 UGN Poser | | UGN Poser Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 69 | Nomad uses fat32...
