is there a sybol for atheism? like christians and the cross, the jews and the star, and the devil worshipers and their symbol. I was just wondering.

well i really really dunno, but i think their symbol is the piramid.. you know those big things in EGYPT... i'm not sure

hmm, i never knew there WAS a symbol for atheism. Since you don't believe in an almighty power or organized religion I dont know why you would want to wear a symbol. BTW, what is the symbol for devil worshippers?

The satanic symbol is called a pentagram. For atheism, the closest symbol that I have heard of before is an upside down cross, but that may symbolize another group.

And no, I'm neither a satan worshipper or atheist...I'm just well versed.

well, Why would u want to brag that u are an atheist? Wouldn't u want nothing to do with promoting a religion of any kind? The pentagram is not a wiccan symbol and the upside down cross is for devil worshippers.

dashocker im preaty damn sure the pentagram is a wiccan simbol. just run a simple search on google for wicca and go to a random site. odds are that it will have a pentagram somewhere

The Pentagram(an inverted star within a circle), is one of the many symbols of Satanism, then Pentacle(a star with the point aimed upward and encased in a circle) is the symbol for Wiccans. An inverted Cross is usually a symbol of Anti-Christianity, and can symbolize the worship of evil and the opposite of what Christianity stands for.

I kinda thought the symbol should be nothing. Nothing at all. I mean religions have symbols and ceremonies because they think that these things mean crap. Atheists dont have anything to prove or aren't trying to impose there symbols and ideas into other peoples heads, so why have one. I dont think its that they really Believe in nothing more than they dont believe in anything. So why have a symbol to show that.

I typed that original post about when the boards went down. I didn't know any of it was saved. I wrote a lot more scathing things in the original post out of annoyance and then sort of appologized for them at the end of the post.
Here is my original post in full. Keep in mind I was sick and annoyed when I wrote it.

For all it matters, I don't really care if anyone knew I'm an atheist or not. I try not to discuss religion as no one can convince anyone and it leads to a break down in relations if one tries too hard, which one invariably does. Also, Moffesto's saying "[censored] god and [censored] religion" or whatever is a tad childish. It's the type of atheists like that which gives atheism such a bad name. No offense to either you Moffesto, or you either Crime. It's just early and I'm cranky.

Not meaning to follow my post directly with another post. I meant to add this to the previous one. Curse - I'm an ordained Minister yada yada. Universal Life Church. Like you I believe. I'm also a devout atheist. Heh. Almost a contradiction in terms.

I only said that because i wanted pll to relize i cant stand the fact ppl dont think me for one is an atheist and i was in a pissed mood... i dont really think like that but i hate ppl that like a imaginaery figures imaginary balls, just gets on my bad side when i see ppl w/ christian fish on their car and jesus shirts... i just want to represent myself liek that.

Understandable. People can get really annoying at times. That No Beliefs site reminds me of a site I used to go to a lot. It was called Why Christians Suck. It told about the many atrocities commited by those who were devout followers of "God". I'm sure this site contains a lot of that from my cursory glance of it. If you take the bible by face value, it basically shows you that "God" killed more people then Hitler did. Things of that nature. Fun facts to spring on Christians if they ever force you into a stupid, pointless, debate.
I do understand that it can be important for someone to show their beliefs. Hell, my pagan friends are overly fond of those damnable pentagrams. Wear them all the damn time. I, however, believe that having a "symbol" for Atheists in general is a little foolish. Just like that stupid anarchy symbol. : )
Look at it from this vantage point though, if people are assuming you are a christian, you won't have to be worried about a corporation not hiring you because the HR guy is a dick and doesn't hire anyone with belief systems that differ from his. Ok. I'm rambling now. My night time anti-cold medicine is probably kicking in pretty hard. I can feel my eyes getting heavy and all that. I'm going to bed. Hope I was clear / concise and all that jazz.

With no offense to all you atheists, but don't you think that this is a little bit contradictory. I mean Christians, Muslims and Jews have their symbol for believing in something (God), which is - obviously- not one of you prime concerns, so why bother with some stupid symbol instead of not believing in anything.
