As far as I know, System32 contains the majority, if not all, of the drivers that Windows requires to run, as well as numerous important DLLs and other such files. It seems the prank has really been pulled on you | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 DollarDNS Owner | DollarDNS Owner Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 | WRONG, if he's using Win98 than it hardly contains anything. System is the major container of drivers and stuff. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 533 Enforcement Admin | Enforcement Admin Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 533 | I noticed Win 95 had like no drivers in System32, but with XP, most drivers are in System32... | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 626 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 626 | Not to mention Win ME and I think 2k also... Yet 95 and 98 (even SE), when installing drivers would ask for the CD... You can copy the cabs etc over, then you don't need the CD. Also remember you can always download drivers... Just putting in my 0.2 cents of driver info (looks in hand and notices... [censored] it's only 1 penny, drops it and runs away).

XP has a crap load of stuff on system32, damn and i hated XP thanx to my helpful friend, i was able to find a win2k and i took my xp outta my computer and said goodbye, cuz it sucked, all there was, was the prettiness (XP=extra pretty) and so far im pretty happy with my 2000, aah! i got carried away, i went from talking about pranks to my new system.. umm ill just end it here . <--ends there <img border="0" alt="[Thumb]" title="" src="graemlins/thumb.gif" /> | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 | i'm glad he was shitting u cuz you tried to pull of something which you didn't even know what the consequences where. THAT'S sad... | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 nobody | nobody Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 | windows does a search for drivers when it uses them first it searches for the 32bit drivers in system32 then it searches for 16bit drivers in system if it cant find the 32bit. So its not gonna totally [censored] his [censored] up but it will downgrade it a bit which will probably be unoticable to him. | | | | Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 33 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 33 | If he is really that dumb to fall for something like that.why didnt you have him delete some things from the REGISTRY???? | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 119 | yeah...but the again...he just told him that without knowing wut the hell would happen.
renaming io.sys and/or autoexec.bat would stop this dude's PC from booting...but then again that's to simple and though-out...why not delete something called system...it MUST be important... | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 860 Likes: 1 Der beltter | Der beltter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 860 Likes: 1 | Fact is, you're a stupid dumb [censored] for doing this prank in the first place. Someone had to say it... | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 DollarDNS Owner | DollarDNS Owner Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,273 | heh, I personally wouldn't have done the prank cause it's not my style... but I do believe that gullible people are free-for-all. I have very little tolerance for stupidity and wish them the worst.
Even if I knew nothing about computers I wouldn't delete anything if somebody told me to over the internet. check that - ESPECIALLY if I didn't know [censored] about something I would trust anybody on say-so. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 536 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 536 | hey well hes dumb enough and go delete system32 so yeah lol, and i think hes running umm pretty old so yeah, oh well ill just message him with all my screen names and after hes responded to em all ill warn like a hell! thats the way to go, or i could email him a virus but like thats too trendy.. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 562 UGN Supporter | UGN Supporter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 562 | If he is this dumb, Then he would have done it in the windows GUI right?
