The only thing that CAN NOT be ported at this time are pager numbers. All that will happen is us people in the porting center will cover our headset mouth peice and laugh at you.
Now as to me bitching at the moment my center here in Oregon is an overflow center for a Verizon Center in Tennasee well as of tomorrow my center will be taking on the top 100 cities in the USA while Tennasse takes everything else. Oh and if you have AT&T or Nextel good luck taking your number from them. With Nextel they have the number lock and AT&T is just a bunch of assholes since they got bought out by Cingular last month.
Also if your porting your house phone to a cell phone it might take more than the 4 to 10 business days. Not to scare people off because most go thru in that time frame but we still have lanline ports that have been waiting to be ported over since wireless porting started last November.
Want to know anything else then ask me on this post.

Plus companies are going to be a pain to compromise on this one, and there are a million and one catches, but good luck. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 nobody | | nobody Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 815 | I learned if you cancel you service before you buy your new phone you can't get your old number. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,204 Likes: 11 Community Owner | | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,204 Likes: 11 | IceMyst played the sick card on her big day | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 1,449 UGN Elite Poster | | UGN Elite Poster Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 1,449 | i dont play it hun you gave it to me. it's hard to go into work and talk on the phone for 12 hours when you have no voice to do so with.
sinetific sometimes you can get your number back. it depends on if it got sent right back into the number pool or was put it what's called ageing. with ageing no one can take the number for i think 45 days in case you decide you want your number back. and with porting your number has to be active in order to port it. if you cancel it even after we get a a confirmation from your old service provider but it hasnt made it thru our other systems then your number isnt going to port. and one thing that i know AT&T is doing which really pisses me off is that when a person is taking their number from AT&T and going to say Verizon, the customer will ask AT&T if their number as to be active or if they can just cancel even before the port is done and AT&T is telling people yeah go ahead and cancel your service. well when a week or 2 has gone by and they still dont have their number ported over to Verizon and they get me and i have to tell them they have to re-activate with AT&T that really sucks. and no we cant call them for you cause they just tell us no the customer has to do it and we cant be on the line, when in actuality if we have verbal confirmation from you the customer we can give to get any info that's needed but AT&T and Nextel just like to piss us off. T-Mobile is pretty cool about it though and Sprint is in for some hefty lawsuits cause their breaking the law big time....
as for porting being hard, it's really not. with wireless to wireless ports their only sopossed to take at most 24 hours. But with AT&T being bitchs over a friggen period missing in the port request it gets hard. When ur going from either T-Mobile or Verizon to someone else you wont get jerked around as much as you would from AT&T, Nextel, and Sprint. Now when it comes to pre-paid ports HA!!!! i'm not even going to touch that one with a 10 foot poll. when i get my pre-paid number ported then i'll say something but till then dont ask me cause i wont go there. :p
oh and sorry for the long posts but this is the only thing i really know what i'm taking about. i no longer have to tlak out of my [censored]
