Because it covers: Unix, Linux, BSD etc, people were complaining about the title saying "*Nix Security" | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 626 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 626 | Point well put and the fact we are slackers ;+()

Jesus scallion drop it, I changed it in the first place to people compaling, then a second time, I'm not changing it for a third... | | | | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 68 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 68 | My point is, you have a gaping huge typo on your forums. But you're the boss... | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 197 Member | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 197 | Uhm not really *lol*
1) if people say *nix than they mean all unix based operating systems
2) so if people say *nix security, they mean security of all the unix based operating systems
It's that simple...
Never argue with fools... They will only drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience...

"Why nix & nix, not *nix & *nux?"
When in reality, a true synonym would be:
"Unix/Linux, and Unix/Linux Security" (yes maybe Gizmo should've put a comma in there so you wouldn't get confused)
Seeing it that way, it makes sense that this forum is for discussion anything-related Unix or Linux. Before it was just Unix/Linux Security and people may have thought that any Unix/Linux discussion in this forum MUST be on security.
So as you can see:
"*nix & *nux Security"
does not work in the meaning Gizmo was trying to get across. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | Correct...
I was tired of seeing unix and linux posts in general, people though these sections were for security relative postings only. We changed the names FOR this reason. | | | | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 68 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 68 | Heh. I'm happy. Don't worry. It's not like the forum is overflowing with threads | | |
