So is Metroid Prime up to standards? Well kick [censored], Metroid is back. Nothing like fighting that evil scum again. It actully got 4 stars from some places, a few others gave it 3. So it's a descent game. Yet what do you think? Nothing really beats the classic. It's not a first-person shooter. Metroid Prime doesn't play like any other game that's come before it, and it emphasizes exploration and investigation at least as much as pure action. Yet I would still consider this a must get game for all you gamecube fans. See lets hear what you think about the new Metroid.

Personally games that are based of the classics with new technology change of story etc, they can't beat the classic version. Ex: Wolf 3d vs RTCW, Castlevania vs The Playstation and N64 castlevania etc.

Keep gaming <img border="0" alt="[sheep]" title="" src="graemlins/sheep.gif" />

True, yet with all that brand new technology you just don't get that feel sometimes. Like it's just not the same classic anymore. Yet I love Castlevania and think all of em are c00. I really want them to make a new castlevania for like all platforms (even PC). No doubt this Metroid is a must have.

Amen hKzKnight.
I think the battle for game of the year is between Metroid Prime and Splinter Cell. I guess we'll see what the magazines, ign, and gamespot say by the end of the year. too bad next year Link will rape and Zelda will 0wn everyone. MWUAHAhahahahaha.

I'm really glad to see such new amazing games. For awhile there was a shortage of really good games. There was a few out once in awhile, but it was dry. Then for a bit over a year all these great games. Hell I don't have money to buy all those games sometimes lol. I'm still waiting patiently for Doom 3. :+)

--History Lesson--

nes - Metroid
snes - Super Metroid

Metroid was raved about as one of the all time greats when it came out for the nes, then when the snes version came out it was once again praised, but its always been a 2d platform game, not sure how the 3d thing is going to work out.

my only problem with the sudden rash of remakes into 3d is that they arent coming out with many new games i mean yeah i like metroid prime, super mario sunshine, final fantasy 10...etc but it's kinda nice to have a change of pace once in a while

metroid prime was given like a 9.5 in EGM i think. if you are looking for the old school snes type of play, get a gba and metroid fusion.

I played it some, and it is my opinion that they did a FANTASTIC job bringing it to 3d. I had doubts because the old ones were 2d, but this is great. It still feels like Metroid, the awesome ball, powerups, blaster, exploration. I don't forget it is Metroid for a second. It got 5/5 on Extended Play, and their only bad comment was the control scheme feeling a little awkward at first. I thought it made sense.

I would pay 100 bucks for a gamecube/metroid combo, no more though. XBOX would do it for me :\
