A friend of mine went backpacking through South America. He took his old blue box with him because he had heard rumours about them still working some places. He kept trying it all over the place with no luck. Until one day he got off the bus in some small dusty place. He had to make a call home, so he figured he'd give the blue box a try again, and it worked! Granted, he likes to exaggerate sometimes, but he said it worked perfectly. Maybe they cant afford to upgrade the phone system there, I'm not sure. Does anyone else know of any places where Blue Boxes work?

Windead although Australia sucks it's not a [censored] third world country(not that it has to be). We have a pretty good phone system and you'll find it hard to find information on how to exploit it. In fact there's only one site I know of with information about it. Anyway Griffon knows some good tricks with the phone box's, so talk to him. We might be starting a zine on that kind of stuff in Australia.

ummm... i never insinuated australia was a thrid world country. in case you didnt read the above post gizmo mentioned Englend. and england isnt exactly third world either. so if it works there, it might work in australia too.

Man I love getting into arguments >-). All the text files you have are probably outdated and the only recent ones I have seen just show how to do tricks you can do almost everywhere (eg. biege boxing) and how to get phone box numbers. I have never seen one on the how to get free calls(I said free calls, hope this topic doesn't get closed because of it) from payphones. I apologies if you have a source on how to do it. As for being able to blue box in England I have a friend that lives there and he says you can't but he's known to say stupid things sometimes or maybe you can only do it in certain areas.

heh, no man, no texts. and its quite possible to get free calls there you just need to be good with electronics. I found some texts about the phone system that are given to technicians as training, so i figured out a bunch of [censored] about it. and they quite up to date. not sure about blue boxing though. have you tried blue boxing there?

I'll still remain with what i previously stated, its quite easy to bluebox in differant countries, some not even third world...

NyNexPhreak (england based phreaker) used to bluebox from england to africa to china ro the USA and get on confs with us, it was quite fun .

Heh, sorry, i meant outdated texts. And i will share them when I confirm them. Unfortunately they are hard copy and belong to a friend. But I'll write up my findings in different countries and share them with everyone whos interested. Right now theres a quite few countires I'll be visiting, and I'll be sure to do as much phone system recon and testing as i can.

I know I sure wouldn't want to get caught doing something illegal in a 3rd world country. They probably chain you to a wall for 20 years if they catch you blue boxing. Remember in the 70's they were busting people all over the U.S. for blue boxing and throwing them in jail. A 3rd world country might at least know how to detect blue boxers. Who knows, maybe they wouldn't even care.

I know people today who swear you can still bluebox from the U.S. by dialing a toll-free line that rings into blue boxable countries. I've yet to hear any audio

omg, RBCP posts :x... Yes, some country direct numbers will allow you to bluebox, but its very rare that you'll be able to find one .
