I have heard that you cant call up the number of the place that gives out the phone numbers in your local area, say your a phone technician and they will give it to you. i havn't tried this myself though.

windead, don't speak until you get a clue...

411 operators will NOT give out private numbers to anyone, including technicians. The only way you'll be able to get the information is through a private records search or a PI.

You can however try to social your way through 411, your warning is that they log everything and its not wise to try unless you know what you're doing.

Yes, they are... Oh, and before you say that I don't know what I'm talking about, my ex was a 411 op (and no, not the one that does 900 calls!)...

What's the phone number you want to get info on? Maybe if you post it, we can all take a crack at it.

I still think that besides the phone company, 2 of the best places to get that info from are pizza places and video stores because they can look up a customers account by their phone number. You just call up to order a pizza and they ask for your phone number. After they pull up the number, they'll say, "Are you still at 123 Main Street?" or whatever.

For video stores, you say you want to check and see if you have overdue videos on your account. Give them a weird name that they can't find in their system. Then they'll ask for a phone number to try and pull up the account. Hopefully the guy your looking for has rented videos there and given his real number.

while working at a movie theatre i found a way to get the number of a blocked caller id "private number". id get a prank call on the company phone at the box office, i would hangup n dial *69 and i would get the usuall were sorry call return function cannot be used for last incoming call blah blah blah because it was a blocked number. but, then the recording would give me an option to press 1 to give the phone # anyways. the number would also be displayed on the phones call id screen.

this has only worked on that phone at that business. it was a business phone which had a lot of functions like playing music from the theatres "movie tunes" n [censored] like that

anyway my question is how can i get the option to display private #'s on my home phone,? is it something that is only offered to business'?
