Well, with the word of http://www.whatismyip.com being sold i had the boredom and impatience to design something better, more eye appealing than what it originally was...

I'm turning PhreakGeek into a replacement for WhatIsMyIP.com and was curious if anyone had any input on what they'd like to see from a browser readout...

So far i'm just working on features and not really design...

How about a count of all pornographic images and movies on your computer, so you can keep track.

Will Thinkgeek get a little pissed about the name or will they try to attack you with lightsabers and Star Wars T-Shirts rolled around a cardboard tube.

ThinkGeek would have no right to be pissed off; not like they can trademark the term geek...

why not? trump trademarked "you're fired"

but that was a movement with the phrase;it's a little different than just a word.

and if not, I'm going to go ahead and use caselaw and trademark the word the and make millions. haha.

links to networking related documents and an advertisement area wouldn't be a bad idea, imo. Maybe even a php based port scanner for the security concious.

well dudes, i have found one cool site http://getanyip.com which provides not only facility to see your IP, but also you can find other domain's IP and domain name from IP.

I now use getanyip instead of other sites like whatismyip etc.

I've got that too. It's called host. If I want lots of detail, it's called dig.

I myself use the following because websites like ipchicken don't seem to work if behind a transparent proxy server... So with that said, try this puppy out:

Sorry Gizmo but I was just stating the facts. Didn't think it was advertising considering its not like I work for them lol ! Will check next time but just in case.

Advertising "special offers" is spam, reguardless if you work for them or not.

By the way, I have one question (bit out of track)

I am using adsl router, with 512 kbps line. It is connected to my switch and my server has been configed to connect to router when it starts.

Now my laptop can also connect via the LAN server and also I can connect to router directly (i have created PPPoE connection on my laptop, using which i can create second connection).

After that, I saw my IP Address using http://getanyip.com?q=ip on both server and laptop, and I found that my server and my laptop shows different IP addresses.

So does that mean that router doesn't get IP address when i connect, it gets IP for the connection created? OR the router itself gets IP for each connection and not the computer?

If you're creating a second connection then you're telling it to give you a second IP; it cannot assign the same IP to two seperate hosts... You'll find the same thing if you where to use a switch before your router and have computers connect directly to that to connect to the web, so long as they can pull an IP it should be differant as well..

Note that some providers charge extra for every IP assigned to your network; so you may want to ask before you do.

You are absolutely right. I have connected my router to my switch and I am connecting other computers to the switch. And as you said I can connect each computer directly.

Yes I would surely like to ask my ISP about extra charge, if they do.
