I've added a rewrite rule to our .htaccess file to deny linking access to any files of the type: exe, com, zip, bat, tar, gz. This rule was added since last month we served 14gigs of traffic and the most requested were files that didn't have
UGN Security as the referrer.
We don't mind you taking our files, we also don't mind you taking our users; but we can't afford to mirror our files for you to link directly to them.
If you wish to link to these files still, your users will recieve a "cannot connect to server" error when trying to download the file. Note that if you would like to be added to our list of accepted sites, all you have to do is email us. You can also link to the PAGE that the download can be linked to on our servers.
Please also note that we haven't yet added this ban to the images, but we may. These changes happen throughout all domains and subdomains on the
UGN Security webspace, with the exception of some user accounts. We don't yet have plan's to put this ban on txt, pdf, doc, c files but we reserve the right to keep that option available if nessessary.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on this post through the bulletin board.
