Demonoid

Demonoid is a popular BitTorrent tracker and website that includes filesharing related discussion forums and a searchable index for the tracker. The site has undergone intermittent periods of extended downtime due to the occasional need to move the server, generally caused by cancellation of ISP service due to local political pressure. In late 2013, the original Demonoid domain names came under the control of an unknown party, who launched a placeholder website promising the return of Demonoid and soliciting Bitcoin donations, and who in early 2014 began operating a tracker servicing the old Demonoid torrents. On March 29, 2014, the original Demonoid torrent archive returned via the website demonoid.ph. On December 3, 2014 Demonoid changed its domain name again to demonoid.pw.Demonoid features RSS with different feeds for each of its torrent categories and their subcategories. It tracks and displays users' uploaddownload ratios, but, except in its early years, took no action against users with low ratios members who take more than they share. Demonoid previously banned users with low ratios, but stopped doing so due to the ratio system being inaccurate for some users, such as those with dynamic IP addresses.Demonoid prohibits linking to torrents containing pornographic material and malicious software. In addition to forums on the Demonoid web site, an IRC channel, demonoid at P2PNetwork, supports discussion among users.

AnimeSuki

AnimeSuki from Japanese anime and suki like or love is a website and once considered the largest database of BitTorrent anime shows that focuses on providing unlicensed anime fansubs using the BitTorrent peertopeer system. The website was created by GHDpro on December 26, 2002. Animesuki is not a tracker instead, it provides links to many trackers across the web. It does not list pornography or series that have been licensed in North America. The site only links to anime that has not been licensed by any American companies. Once a title is licensed, the corresponding fansub links are removed from the site and the series is listed on its licensed list. Nonetheless, although none of the files are hosted on the site itself, AnimeSuki could be held accountable for violating copyright law, as linking to sites that themselves infringe on the law has been considered a form of contributory infringement in the United States Intellectual Reserve v. Utah Lighthouse Ministryurl.Though fansubs are technically copyright violations, AnimeSuki's legal page alleges that the WTO urlhttpsen.wikipedia.orgwikiAgreement_on_TradeRelated_Aspects_of_Intellectual_Property_RightsTRIPS Agreement specifies that the distribution of copyrighted material is only necessarily illegal when done on a commercial scale, thus making it difficult for anyone besides the copyright holder to prosecute fansubbers. To date, only one Japanese company, Media Factory, has requested its content removed from the site. However, Funimation and Kadokawa Pictures USA have also sent them separate cease and desist letters concerning several titles, which were promptly removed. In Singapore, Odex has specifically singled out AnimeSuki as a source to target its downloaders with legal action.AnimeSuki is also known for erring on the side of caution regarding licenses. Even though some series such as Hanaukyo Maids were not initially licensed, AnimeSuki kept them from being listed because of the likelihood that Geneon would secure the rights to it.

The Pirate Bay commonly abbreviated TPB is an online index of digital content of mostly entertainment media, founded in 2003, where visitors can search, download and contribute magnet links and torrent files, which facilitate peertopeer file sharing among users of the BitTorrent protocol. In 2009, the website's founders were found guilty in Sweden for assisting in copyright infringement. In some countries, Internet service providers have been ordered to block access to the website. Subsequently, proxies have been providing access to it, and its content is being provided by multiple roundrobin servers, collectively nicknamed the TPB hydra. The Pirate Bay allows users to search for Magnet links. These are used to reference resources available for download via peertopeer networks which, when opened in a BitTorrent client, begin downloading the desired content. Originally, the Pirate Bay allowed users to download BitTorrent files torrents, small files that contain metadata necessary to download the data files from other users. The torrents are organized into categories Audio, Video, Applications, Games, Porn and Other. The contents of these categories can be sorted by file name, the number of seeders or leechers, the date posted, etc.Piratbyran described The Pirate Bay as a longrunning project of performance art.
