While not up for a vote yet, a highly controversial bill is making the rounds on Capitol Hill which would expand the FBI and other federal agencies' capability to collect DNA from people both arrested and detained regardless of charges.

The bill sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) has passed through the Senate Judiciary Committee and also has the backing of the White House.

This bill goes beyond current law which only allows DNA to be taken from those that are actually convicted of crimes.

I never knew that it was made into a movie. I have had the book on reservation at the town library for two weeks now. I think I mentioned that I was going to read the novel after finishing Utopia in the "good reading" thread.
The trailer wasn't that impressing but I'm going to get it tonight if vid ezy has it.
I don't like the idea of loosing civil liberties.
I don't think that would pass through our parliment, our society wouldn't allow it and for now our crime doesn't seem to be that out of control.
