Nokia has today launched five new mobile phone models, including flip phones that had not before been part of Nokia's line up. The world's market leader in mobile phone technology has been steadily losing market share to its rivals.

Nokia claims that one of its new flip phone is the smallest mass-market 3G model designed for fast networks. According to Gartner, a market researching company, Nokia's market share has dropped to 28.9%. The company says its share stands at 32%.

Nokia CEO, Jorma Ollila, said: "We have now sharpened our product portfolio in key areas, bringing to the market new phones in the mid-range, and adding more clamshells (flip phones) to our offering." The company is chasing a 40% market share.

I canceled my cell phone. A few $700 bills and that was it. For one it isn't reliable as a utility yet. It is over priced. See The first to purchase any new technology pay to make it better for others.

The cell phone companys have managed to get thier customers to belive the Hype. Cell phones are not good enough to replace land lines yet IMO. See what happens in a power outage.

The CO's have back up power, batteries etc. Cell phone have short life batteries then they are dead. Thats if the tower has power at all. Land lines draw power from the CO.

Land lines do not crap out in the middle of an important call. Roaming.... WTF is that. Until there is blanket coverage without any interuption it just isn't worth it. It has improved, but we are not there yet.

$700 is just rediculus. I had 2000 minutes for christ sakes. *shrugs*
