UGN is working on raising $325 for a "Lifetime" subscription (upgrade from our present license) to www.infopop.com for the Ultimate Bulletin Board. This subscription will allow us to add new features as they come available to the public (Standard upgrades as opposed to hacks).

A new version of the UBB comes out every 4 months (approximately) and we add "upgrades" to the board every month. A combination of the two will ensure that we're able to keep all content and the board up to date for the users since thats what its all about.

The minimum that we can purchase at infopop is a 5 year access plan which is $475. That ensures that for 5 years we have upgrades, hopefully the banners will have paid for parts of the site by then. The reason that this is the "minimum" we can do is because it is the onlyone which allows us to upgrade to the "gold" package.

If you would like to make a donation please send it to:
UGN Security
C/O James Corthell
11705 SE 63RD AVE
Milwaukie, OR 97222

Please remember that every little bit helps.

You may ask:
"Why would we donate?"
I believe that one of the donators said it best with "One should support things they like, you never know how long their going to last".

"I don't have $100 to donate"
Thats fine, we take anything, even as low as $5. Heck we'll take your sister as a trade-in smile ...

"Do you have a link so we can verify this?"
Of corse, http://infopop.com/order/ubbclassic/

Well thats all for now, please feel free to post here if you have any questions.

Oh, just a quote of why i'm against turning UGN into a "mass company" for proffit as opposed to just putting the money back into the site:

Quote:
Optix said it best:
OptixIllusions: ugn would be a kicking business.
He then procieded to discuss making UGN a large scale company just to make a buck.

Gizmo = Keeping UGN out of the corperations since 2002...

UGN Security
C/O James Corthell
11705 SE 63RD AVE
Milwaukie, OR 97222

in the return adress then put no postage on it and adress it to myself? that way it would be sent to the return adress because it didnt have adiquate postage on it to be sent back to me. in theory this would work... maybe they would just throw it out

after note-im such a cheap s.o.b. if i get around to it ill send a couple bucks but if i do im gonna mess with the postage. instructions will be with the mail

Well the "donate" thing on the site goes through paypal, I accept that and money orders/personal checks, however you'd like to get it here so long as we get it.

Basically the updates are features and security releases, you may not think it much but in a full version thats about 200 addons.

Hey Moff ($10) and OhFuk ($2) I got your donations today. Their in the UGN Piccle Jar :x...

Every little bit helps, all donations will be used towards making UGN a better place.

OhFuk, When they process letters they put black ink over stamps now, its a rarity to have the stamps so you can re-use them.
Posted By: black^Pimp Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/05/02 09:26 AM
Gizmo thanks for explanations, 200 addons really seem enough for that money..

i said i'll try my best, just need some time to fix some stuff ok

P.S. These days i'm sending you 5 cd's, the ebooks and all those cisco stuff through mail, so you'll probably recieve em in about 20 days.
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/06/02 02:03 AM
Aaight, I look forward to you "fixing" some stuff and recieving your package in the mail.
Posted By: black^Pimp Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/06/02 10:02 AM
Ok listen Gizmo

I prepared the Cd's, i'm sending 5 cds to you, the ebooks one, the all cisco courses, curriculums and much much much more other cisco stuff and other stuff too. A cd with programs and so on ok.
Posted By: pergesu Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/06/02 02:34 PM
black^Pimp, am I ever gonna get that Java curriculum?
Posted By: black^Pimp Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/06/02 07:36 PM
pergesu, you will if you tell me how to give it to you.. i already told you, it takes me lots of hours to upload it, and i'm on [censored] dial up still, so i can't just stay for 6-7 hours and wait for that curriculum to be uploaded.

it's 20.1 mb man

tell me a different way to give it to you, be sure i will..
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/06/02 09:24 PM
lol just give me everything and i'll give him access to my fserv.
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/08/02 07:17 PM
The UGN Piccle Jar now has $17 in it. I'm still accepting and awaiting donations. Any money above the quota will go towards site features as well (not just the board) since we're planning on adding many new features for the users.

are these donations tax deductable...
Posted By: Curse Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/09/02 05:30 AM
BackSlash, yes these donations are tax deductable. But you must file a 603 G form with the IRS within three working days of sending the donation.
Posted By: BackSlash Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/09/02 09:18 AM
more trouble than its worth
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/09/02 09:32 AM
<snicker> UGN is non-proffit. I'm not 110% sure about tax deductions, I believe that when you file your taxes you write your donation off as a business expense.
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/24/02 02:52 AM
Just a note to everyone, we're still taking donations for site matters. If you'd like to donate please mail cash/check/money order to:

UGN Security
C/O James Corthell
11705 SE 63RD AVE
Milwaukie, OR 97222

If you'd rather donate via paypal please check out the donations page at: http://www.undergroundnews.com/donate.htm

Thank you all for your help. So far we have raised $40 from users, we'd hope that if you like UGN you'd help with some site costs since things can get a little expencive and the banner plan doesn't help that much yet.
Posted By: jonconley Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/25/02 05:22 PM
I am not very familar with bulletin board systems out there, but $700 is a lot it seems like. Isn't their any cheaper or free alternatives? I mean UBB is damn nice, but aside from security patches, I am sure most people could deal with even this version of UBB for 5 years.

Again, I don't know [censored] about any of this, just tossing it out there.
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 10/25/02 11:18 PM
Jon, the UBB [censored] for $700 is a lifetime subscription, which aside from just security patches there are a buttload of features in every version.

The *GOAL* is for the money for the lifetime license, don't even know if we'll get that much, especailly since we only recieved $40 (and $20 was from me!)

Do you accept euro ? I think they have the same value or something like that.
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 11/14/02 02:08 AM
DigitalGeek: yup, I believe PayPal accepts Euro. PayPal donations are available to email address Gizmo[at]undergroundnews[dot]com
Posted By: Gremelin Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 12/02/02 02:47 AM
Ok, I just found out that I can upgrade my license from infopop (since I got it from beard finally). The price for the upgrade is $325 as opposed to $699. So that means that we basically knocked $300 off the price lol...

Now, we have $32 in the "envelope" smile , hopefully this will pick up frown .
Posted By: black^Pimp Re: UGN Fund-Raiser 2002 - 01/16/03 08:22 PM
Gizmo i think paypal doesn't accepts EURO's, yeah they have the same value. Well maybe it does but not from my bank, i guess i'll just have to mail you all of my donations.

Well i already donated 1 milion $ to UGN remember the CD's gizmo ? lol.

see ya guys
