Yes, new guy here. How are ya? Was wondering if there are any musicians in here?
I play piano. For the future, posts like this should go in Off Topic. Why? Cause it doesn't relate to computers at all.
Just noticed you're from Rochester. w3rd, I'm gonna be there next Fall.
Sure. Didn't see it. Coming here for school or something?
I also play the piano. 'bout 11 or 12 years now. Played mallets in the high school band for a few years.
Played the ol' Trombone, and then dabbled in the piano.
< Acoustic Guitar
in when i moved schools in Grade 8 i moved to a school that had a music program, i didnt know [censored], all the other kids were like 5 years ahead of me, I tried playing the clarnet and the teacher told me there was no HOPE, so i got to sleep in Music Class
Took me about 2 months to learn Mary had a little lam lol
I know some paino/keyboards, I've played guitar and bass for almost a decade now no longer seriously though, and I know minimal music theory about enough to payt attention when a conversation is going on about the subject.
I play guitar, mostly metal type stuff. I'm very much into John Petrucci (Dream Theater), or attempt to play anyway. Just curious guys, thanks.
well well, another axe player, i'm mostly in to symphonyX and meshuggah and also go a band i play progressive metal with. nice to see another musician.
Michael Romeo is pretty quick, and clean. I respect him much. I have 45 min or so of his instructional on mpeg. Not sure what one (if he has more than one). I could never get into Sym X. I'm not sure why. I have a couple of discs but I suspect I'm very DT/LTE/Petrucci minded that I tend to be a bit narrow minded.
Can you play any of Romeo's licks? He's fast!!!!
I play guitar, write some music also. I'm really in to more chill acousticy stuff, like Radiohead (even though they have some harder stuff), Coldplay, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and some harder stuff like lot's of punk rock, Pedro the Lion and tons of other stuff.
sure. i can play eyes of medusa and of sins and shadows. all of it. even the solos.
i listned to DT before but it got boring, too much rock and no neoclassical.
I play cello. *me ducks flying rocks*
for about 3-4 years now. i can play an easy arrangement of brandenburg no. 3! even the 4 bars of melody!
I play Bass (also know as Bass Guitar).
Infinite's not speakin up, but he plays the flesh flute <img border="0" alt="[puke]" title="" src="graemlins/puke.gif" />

My wife plays the skin flute :-D
You play my skin flute, so does your wife at that...
I played the piano for a while, but when I hit eigth grade I decided it wasn't "the cool thing to do." so i quit. and now (like 5 years later) i'm just starting to get into it again. It's so irritating trying to play something that I know I used to be able to play perfectyl and screwin up like mad. by the way, anybody know a website where i could get some free metallica or other rock sheet music translated to piano?
drake, i don't think you'll be able to find anything quite like what your asking, however...Find a book that shows you the names of guitar strings and what note is on each fret. Then go to one of the many many sites that has guitar tabs. Print off some tabs and transpose it to play on the piano. You won't really need to do much since the piano and guitar are on the same clef, you'll just need to figured out whether it's a high D or a low D, etc. You'll probably even be able to play chords on the piano too. It's not hard really; I transposed the intro to "Enter Sandman" to play on my cello and the cello is played in bass clef.
there's a group called Apocalytica that plays all the Metallica songs on the cello. it sounds awesome. thanks for the tip shock.
/me has 2 Apocalyptica CDs
I downloaded all 4 Apocalyptica CDs.
The term for "putting metallica to piano" is arrangement. Search google for arrangements of metallica put to piano. I'm sure there's some out there.
SR, which do you have? I have "Plays Metallica by 4 Cellos" and "Inquisition Symphony". The only store that even sells them here is Borders. btw, shh! I'm trying to get him to learn something!
me! learn something! ha, i scoff at the notion. but seriously, one of my friends has a a book wiht all the basics of guitar which include what note is on what string and fret and I'm going to borrow it from him as soon as i can.
Apocalyptica Albums in order:
Plays Metallica by 4 Cellos
Inquisition Symphony
Cult (possibly their best album)
Reflections (released earlier this year)
I've got them all on my webserver, but there's no way in heck I'm posting the URL on an open board. waaaaaaaaaaay too much music in there.
