Alright, I am working on a vb5 program in vb6. I need the VBCTRLS.REG file from the vb5 install cd to register some controls. I was wondering if anyone has this file and if they could send it to me at <a href="mailto:[email protected]

Thanks much</a>, Tantalus.

omg... stupid board take this! [email protected]
more likely than not, you don't need the .reg file - that is, if you don't mind manually registering all the controls you need manually - or do it manually as you need them. I can tell you how if you are interested.
I know how to manually register controls, but the .reg file includes license information that will allow me to use them in design mode.
Ok. This next solution is a little more difficult to pull off. Download regmon (registry monitor) from www.sysinternals.com. Track down the registry value that stores this license information and I'll create the necessary key/values you require into a .reg file.

The technique involves running the registry monitor and filter everything except Visual Basic registry accesses. Run it as you get the dialog box that tells you that you don't have the permission or whatever. At that point you should see where Visual Basic looked for this license information
Hmm I'm having the same issue as tantalus and i cant for the life of me understand this regmon program. I would eternilly be in debt to anyone who could toss me the VBCTRLS.REG file.
oh oops my email is [Edited by Gizmo: Email address removed; if you don't feel like coming back for resolution you don't feel like getting an answer]
VBCTRLS.REG is on the VB5/6 cd (disk3 on vb6), in the \Tools\Controls folder.

I believe this file is used just for VB so if you've installed it from the cd you should have the file.

Myself I don't have the time to scroll through google results, but it's your best bet to locate the files off of a cd.
ok sorta thanks
