I have a MD and I love it. The media is cheaper and with the optival inputs you can record with fantastic quality. They are a little more expensive to buy though.

There is no uploading from MD->PC, thanks to the RIAA. Well, there is some [censored] up way, but you'll have to check it out yourself. Two, you're gonna have to use something like Nero ImageDrive in order to avoid using crappy software that limits your transfers/listens when sending music from PC->MD. Third, I get a little paranoid about naming songs, artists, etc. so MD wasn't really the best choice since you're limited in no. of letters, characters, etc. That's just me though. Other than that, MD is a pretty cool format, just not for me. If you go with MD, make sure you get one that can record from a mic input, unlike my player, which is one of the things that really annoyed me towards the end. A good website to checkout is http://www.t-station.net/ (especially the forums). Hope I helped. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 Community Owner | Community Owner Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 7,203 Likes: 11 | MP3 players. I heard something about this. When I record I just use winamp and change the output to the usb adapther that came with it. It shows up as a soundcard. I don't have a net-md though, so I can only record at 1x anyways. Infinite | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 11 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 11 | MP3 player. I have a Nomad. but i suggest an I Pod 10-40 gigs can hold alot of songs at very high quality all you have to buy is a new battery now and then and the battery lasts a hell of a lot longer than AA's.

I also use it for streaming video, and audio from the web. Liek stations liek ebmradio.de
I do quite a bit on it, java, and flash which ce does not have built in. PIE crashes with that [censored]. But not with the alterations. It runs it. So many programs, so many I could lists Maybe I'll do a MD post or a couple, on hardware/software/storage files. Games on a pda is sweet, recording on the fly digitally, and reading books/watching adult content. Pretty good little device there.
It has built in wireless/blue tooth to boot, and I use that for scanning sometimes. Wardriving others the distance is grrrrrrreat. I've been looking for a 256 cf card for it for cheap. But a 2gig ibm microdrive would own, it's got 64 ram, 64 rom, 400mhz, heh 300x200 or something, nice [censored] video output, and sound. So with that drive, and a extended battery heh...It would be a pc for on the go. Dual booting linux ce, and windows ce.

Inf, that's another way to do it I guess, basically does the same thing: with ImageDrive you trick it into thinking the MD is actually a drive :x No question MD rocks when comparing battery life, but I did I mention I actually would recommend a CD-MP3 player? Yeah, that's my thoughts. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,041 UGN Elite Poster | UGN Elite Poster Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 1,041 | I'm not trying to change your mind, just making a counter-point | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 616 UGN Super Poster | UGN Super Poster Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 616 | I'll change your mind, the ibm microdrive has no moving parts, it's plastic. It goes up to 2gigs to my knowledge right now, at the size of about a bazooka joe piece of gum heh. A minidisc has a write limit. Minidiscs I've seen are 250mb or 600mb(expensive), and for a drive/discs compared to a 2gig microdrive. The money just works out with the microdrive as a better deal. Either way heh 2 letter acronyms are confusing because of the obvious...you say to letters it can mean a million+ different things, it depends on who your asking. Hmm..I think the reason microdrives are stating around...well a good one, is johnny the neumonic character, that digital courier thing with the disc that loaded [censored] up. O then escape from new york with the mini cd with the starwars project data on it to work with the satillites. Heh;)

It's multi codec. OGG, MP3, etc. And, they can add some in the future. Last time I checked they were gunna add Flac. Maybe they have by now. Also has an fm tuner, optical in out, fm recorder...just check it out http://www.iriveramerica.com/products/hd_index.asp and, don't trust those prices. check around. | | | | Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 217 Member | Member Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 217 | | | |
